I absolutely agree with your point of view there, Carl… I demand of my bedpartner to turn off her cell, and do so with mine also…those beeps are such turn-offs!

Thanks Carl, Great article!
Perhaps we should extend the concept of ‘protection’ from ‘using a condom’ to insisting that the bedroom is a phone free zone. I mean if your friend / boss / mum knocked on the bedroom door while you were at it you wouldn’t just invite them in now, would you!
Please thank your friend for sharing

I can’t get my head around anyone wanting to interrupt proceedings to check their phone.
Makes you wonder, too, what’s actually happening when someone you call answers out of breath - and then quickly explains that they have just run up the stairs…

Hello Carl!
I read your book “In Praise of Slow” in past June and I must confess I was impressed with it. Not only because I’ve read it in a couple of days but specially because I was thought I was aware of Slow Movement around the world but I’ve realised that I was not so conscious about its dimension! I was really surprised with the roots of the movement in countries such Italy, UK and Germany!
I’ve bought some more copies of your book and gave it to some friends as a Gift and they just loved it!
I was already planning to start a project around the Slow Movement but after reading your book I’ve started to create some networking in order to transform Lisbon in a Slow city.
Thanks for all your help you’ve already gave to me.
My best regards,
Alexandra

Thanks for writing, Alexandra. Glad the book struck a chord. I’ll write to you privately about your plans for a Slow project in Lisbon, one of my favourite cities…
